Santa's List

I know it's been months since I posted anything new. Sorry... I went back to teaching (3rd grade) in August so I haven't been stamping as much. BUT, for those of you who know me, you know I love to make gifts for my kids'  teachers.  I made a cute notebook  with a poem and gift card to help them get ready for Christmas.

 I used Versamark and Iridescent Ice embossing powder to make the sparkly "fur" for Santa's Suit. The little envelope with the bow is a gift card. I stamped a cute image under it, so when the card is removed it still looks nice. I hope you enjoyed the Holidays and I wish you a happy and prosperous New Year!

"Card Worthy" Group Meeting

 We had a great time at our group meeting last week. We made 4 great projects and had 2 demonstrations. Usually I do most of the work for these meetings, but this month I asked if anyone else would like to contribute. I was so happy that so many were excited to chip in! Kim and Francie were in charge of demonstrations. Kim showed us how to use the Circle Scissor Plus and Francie showed us how to use the Movers and Shapers Big Shot Dies. Thank you both for an outstanding job! Paula, Meloney, Francie and I each provided a project. I am never disappointed with the beautiful work these girls do!

Meloney made a beautiful card featuring the new Razzleberry Lemonade paper.

 

Francie's card has a unique fold. She calles it the "Tea Bag Fold" because she was inspired by her actual tea bag! She also used the Razzleberry Lemonade Paper and the new In Colors: Melon Mambo, Crushed Curry and Rich Razzleberry.

 

Here's a view of the open card. The inside piece pulls out. This would be great as a gift card holder.

Finally, here's my card. I used the new "On a Pedestal" stamp set. I wasn't happy with my original cupcake. I stamped the whole thing in Chocolate Chip. Jen (who was also there) suggested that we use markers instead. I love how it turned out! Thanks, Jen!

Happy Father's Day!

Here's the card I made for Father's Day. I have been wanting to try this "quilt" card for sometime. I had to use some retired DSP,because all of my current paper is "girly." Any-who...this was super easy to make. I used my 1 1/4" square punch and glued a bunch of squares together on a piece of card stock. Then I used my Big Shot with my Top Note Die to cut out the quilt piece. I also used my handy-dandy Big Shot for the "F."  How did I ever manage without my Big Shot?! *wink*

 

Now, this next project is not stamping related and I am pretty much cheating at this point, but I made this super,fun cake. Why am I cheating you ask? Well, this picture is (obviously) just of the box that the cake pans came in. He,he. I really did make the cake, and the top and bottom pieces came out GREAT! I just haven't finished it yet. I am doing that tomorrow. Instead of the butter-cream frosting (YUM!) in the center, I am going to use Oreo Ice Cream. (Double YUM!) I'll take a picture and if it comes out nicely I'll post it. If not, well....you get the idea.

Happy Father's Day!

Congratulations Graduate!

I made this card for a very special South Fork High School Graduate! His name is Russell. I have never personally met him, but his mother, Teresa was in one of my Hostess Clubs. Hi Teresa! Russell accomplished something amazing during his last 13 years of school. He had PERFECT ATTENDANCE! He never missed a single day of school. You can read more about his accomplishment HERE

 

I had a little help with the bulldog (the South Fork High School Mascot) from my from my friend AMANDA She is the "Queen of all things punched" in my opinion! The 1st card I made for Russell had an owl on it. I totally copied the card from someone else, so I can't take credit for that little guy either. Anyway, after I made the owl card I thought "Duh, why didn't I make a bulldog?" Then I remembered... "Oh yeah, I don't know how to make a bulldog." Another "duh" moment. That's when I emailed Amanda. She was super fast in whipping one up and emailed me right back. Thanks, friend! I changed her original bulldog, just a tiny bit. Instead of using the 1 3/8 circle punch for his head, I used the 1 3/8 square punch and the corner rounder. Here's what Amanda sent me.

Tarty & Tangy Tic Tacs

Just a quick post tonight. I saw these pretty Tic Tacs at the grocery store last week and knew I had to do something with them. They are citrus flavored, so naturally "Tart & Tangy" is the perfect stamp set to use. I made 2 green ones for my kids as a little surprise for the last day of school. The pink one is for someone else, but I can't name her in case she reads this before I give it to her! Happy Summer!

A Little Yummy for your Tummy

Here's the final gift for the teachers this week. I especially like this one for a couple of reasons. First, before I started stamping one of my favorite things to do was bake and I love to eat yummy baked things!Second, one of my 5th grade students,(Jackie) gave me one of these for Christmas 8 or 9 years ago. Yikes! She's probably in college now. (I'm feeling old) It was perfect, because I could bake it when I was ready instead of having to eat ALL of the yummy treats at once. For those of you who know me personally, you know that I CAN NOT leave baked goods uneaten. Anyway, I have tried several different "cookie in a jar" recipes and most of them look beautiful, but don't taste that great. This  one looks kind of plain since there isn't much color, but I was able to easily spruce it up with my stampin' stuff. More importantly, they are DELICIOUS! The original name for this recipe is "Butterscotch Brownies in a Jar", but I changed the name to "Blondies" because I like the way it sounds better. You can find the recipe here 

Whew, sorry I got a little long winded there. Yummy baked things AND stamping...It doesn't get any better than that!

"A Note for You"

Here is today's gift for Teacher Appreciation Week. It's super cute and easy to make, but also very useful. I love to make cute, fun things, but I also like them to have a purpose.  I participated in a Big Shot Swap before my trip to Hawaii. Rose Ward made a similar project for her swap and that's where the inspiration came from for this one. Thanks, Rose!

 

All this is, is a junior legal pad and a sheet of 8 1/2 x 11 card stock. You need stickystrip to adhere the notepad to the card stock. I used the Raspberry Tart DSP and some Old Olive wide grosgrain ribbon. Here's the inside:

 

One more fun thing for the teacher's is coming tomorrow. Here's a hint: Yum!

Teacher Appreciation Week

I used to teach 5th Grade, so Teacher Appreciation Week is one of my favorite occasions to stamp!  Teachers work incredibly hard and are some of the most dedicated people I know. This year I decided to give them a small gift for each day of the week.

 Monday they got the "Note of Thanks"  Mini Note Kit along with 4 extra notes that I stamped and embellished with ribbon. That way, if they are totally new to stamping, I have given them a simple example that they can easily re-create with their kit. I made a cute tag and tied it with the beautiful wide stitched chocolate chip grosgrain ribbon.

Tuesday they got an embellished box full of Thank You cards. I used my Clear Sizzix Flower Die and my Big Shot to decorate the box. The sentiment in the center of the flower says: "For all you do, For all you are, For all you mean to me..." I think that sums it up, don't you? Silly me, I forgot to take a picture of the cards. Sorry about that. Here's the box anyway.

 

Wednesday's gift is my favorite. I made this adorable scratch pad holder and coordinating pen. I got the idea from my friend Lisa (Who I met in Hawaii) She got the idea from her friend Connie, who was nice enough to send me the template. That's what happens when you're a SU! Demonstrator, you end up with wonderfully creative and talented friends! Hmmm...does that give you any ideas? *wink, wink* There's a $75 starter Kit special right now. I also made a gift bag. Well, kind of... I really made a monogrammed chipboard bag tag, but couldn't figure out how to "present it," so, I put it on a plain white gift bag and put the scratch pad holder and pen inside. Sort of 2 gifts in one, I guess.
